The Engineers day was celebrated  on 17th  September -2013 at 3pm at the Central Library Conference Hall of the college under the auspices of the Student Chapter of ICI & ISTE, in the presence of   Dr. G.B. Senthil Kumar, correspondent.  Er. T. M. Gunaraja, Chairman, Institution of Engineers (India), Tamilnadu State Centre, Chennai was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Mr. C.K. Dhinakaraj, Professional Society Incharge welcome to the gathering. Dr. V. Ramasamy, Principal honoured the chief guest with a shawl and presented a memento to him. Pro. R. Venkatakrishnaiah HOD Civil, introduce the chief guest to the audience.

In thematic address by Er. T. M. Gunaraja on frugal Engineering. He explained as what is frugal Engineering, it means producing quality goods in an economical way using minimum raw materials. In India we call this technique “Gandhians” way of doing things. Now a days, it is gaining grounded in all sphere of activities of our industries. The same concept in mechanical engineering is called Lean. Manufacturing which is otherwise known as Zero waste. It is nothing but green concepts are recycled. In IT sector it is known as green IT, which is conception of power has gained ground area also recycling of some components has became the other of the day. A particular not worthy future is the key chain charges to power the mobile phones. In Civil Engineering waste materials are recycled in the production of eco-friendly building materials. Fly-Ash Ground granulated blast furnace slag and bagasse ash are some of the industrial agricultural waste that are being recycled in the development of concrete. Frugal Engineering is the fore runner of sustainability in our environment. All Students must think in terms of frugal Engineering. When was used Wheneverthey going for a job.

Already a paper writing competition was held on the theme of frugal engineering. There were 20 responses, out of 6 were selected by a committee constituted for this purpose.  The chief guest distributed merit certificate to this successful students. The function was concluded with a role of thanks by Mr. R. Vasantha Kumar, Student secretary with the rendering of the National Anthem the function ended on a happy note.
